sausagefests & surprises

The past couple of weeks have been full of sausagefests, surprises in a variety of forms (good and bad), and plenty of shutter-clicks, as well as strawberry kiwi-flavoured candy from The Boy when we went to go see The Mechanic on Friday. {Note: it doesn't matter how bad the movie might be (I'm looking at you, Crank 2), they could call a Jason Statham movie THE JASON STATHAM MOVIE and I would go see it. The Boy still loves Mr. Arnold and Mr. William Shatner, but Mr. Statham is where it's at for me}

The past couple of weeks have had their handfuls of good moments with a quick visit from the 'what are you going to do with your life this year?' ghost. Though I try to take life a week at a time, it's hard to stay positive when people ask Oh, what have you been up to lately? and the response is Ah, you know, trying to find ... some kind of employment ... and just hoping I get accepted somewhere ... you know, just, waiting. It's so hard to be in control of what's going to happen to me this year; I guess all I can do is try my best and see where the winds take me? I sound like a pirate. Speaking of pirates, specifically from the Caribbean region, one of my main 'hope this happens this year' goal is to go to somewhere tropical for a week-long vacation (most likely Cuba). So cross your fingers I get to enjoy some white sands and palm trees this spring?

'Til then, and to keep up with the 'week at a time' mindset, here's a little recap of what I've been up to lately - in reverse order (gotta switch it up every once in a while!):

Last night involved one of my closest friend's boyfriend's surprise birthday party (that's a mouthful)! Me and another uber close friend missed the surprise by minutes - since we ended up right behind the birthday boy on the way to the house and kept hoping we wouldn't be spotted. Then, as we parked farther away down the street and I shuffled out with a bottle of wine, I -SLIPPED- on a patch of ice and fell - me and my bottom are fine, but the wine bottle completely shattered. Apart from that - oh, and setting the smoke alarm off because of the candles on the cake - it was a really fun time, complete with guitar/drum/music jamming (we sang anything from "All The Small Things", "Wonderwall", "I Want You To Want Me" and "Maps"), beer pong with water for all the DD's, and playing with balloons.

For the past month, I've volunteered for a club at my university as an editor for a show. We've shot a couple of episodes, and for a little bit of promo, I was in a photoshoot last Thursday! Above is just a standard headshot for each person, but then we wandered around outside without our jackets and took more photos, which will hopefully be ready for sharing soon!

Another closest friend and I have gotten into the habit of exploring more things around our city - we're pumped about a new skating rink (complete with lit-up shapes all around it) behind one of my favourite coffee shops , where we each had white hot chocolate (mmm).

And then a weekend before, I attended an actual sausagefest - true, it was a majority of guys there, but the host bought a pig, which we ground up, added spices, and then made our own homemade sausages. Oh, and me, The Boy, and another lovely lady peeled up a good 5lbs. of potatoes to make roasted potatoes. It felt really neat being part of the dinner process and then eating the finished result knowing you made it ... on the same table where raw pig sat. Yeah, that sounds kinda gross. But trust me, it was good.

Now, with all my ramblings out of the way, I gotta ask:
Are you a take each day/week at a time kinda person,
someone who plans ahead meticulously,
or c'est la vie, whatever will be will be person?

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Love the photos. In response to your question I am between a take each day/week by the time kinda person and a c'est la vie type person. It kinda depends on the time of year :)

I still think that we should all go on a hot summer vaca together (mom, you, me and little P). Seriously.

i'm all three!! hahaha but i'm more of, plan for the next day kind of a person unless it is weekend and i have no spa session because you know, you have to book a session in advance, speaking of which, i should book for another one because the one i went to yesterday sucks.

I'm glad you survived the fall, but the wine...! *cry* Poor wine.

I'm a planner, but I don't usually get completely bent out of shape when life gets in the way of my plans and thereby makes me a c'est-la-vie/planner person. ;)

thank you for the welcome back, lady!! i have missed your blog so much, and this recap post was so fab. except for the slipping on ice and breaking the wine bottle part :( no bueno! has it snowed a ridiculous amount in your part of canada as it has here? (boston has already hit a new record in snowfall, and it's only flippin' Jan 31st! oh and more snow is coming tomorrow...where are we gonna put all of it?! i digress...). regardless, be careful of those nasty ice patches! unless you have ice skates on, and youre skating around that gorge lit up ice rink (so pretty)! ooh and i cant wait to see the photoshoot pics! and LOL at "actual sausagefest" hahah. im not a huge fan of grinded up meat links, but those homemade roasted potatoes look DIVINE. yummmm!

hope this ridiculously long comment makes up for being m.i.a. for so long! i working on it ;)

have a beautiful day miss! :D

I like to plan a bit more...sometimes it's fun to be "c'est la vie" though.

I seriously want to try that white hot chocolate!

I'm definitely a take each day at a time kinda person, and that might explain why my savings suffer. I tend to spend my money now for things I like because who knows if I will still be alive tomorrow to enjoy my money XD

Seriously, you and the Boy have the most fabulous stories to tell - and always seem to be up to something fun! The whole slipping on the ice thing is hilarious - though it wouldn't be, of course, if you had gotten hurt. And the fire alarm...haha! It seems like so many disasters happen during times of celebration!! :P

1) W & I saw The Mechanic last Saturday too! I must say i quite liked it...but that might be because compared to the Crank series, this was much better. hahaa! But yes, Jason Statham needs a The Jason Statham Movie.

2) UHM HELLO TROPICAL VACATION IN THE PHILIPPINES TO MEET KRISSY, JESSICA, AND OF COURSE ME! DUHHH!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT DIDN'T EVEN CROSS YOUR MIND!!!! YOU HAVE 5 MONTHS TO SAVE, LETS GO!!!

3)To answer your question - i am definitely a plan ahead type of person. Remember how thick and organized my planner was (in one of my blog posts) It's a day by day planner... i have a game plan everyday. i have to. BUT in certain aspects of life, i'm very much a "c'est la vie" type of person. Like... i'm going to eat 10 lbs of poutine... i might gain 20 lbs, c'est la vie.

oh my, the birthday party sounds fun, and I bet you made a 'surprise' yeah nikolett ft. wine bottle, hehe... thank goodness you're alright, though :D

shooting! sounds fun! :D and volunteering, you're such a sweetheart! *hugs* can't wait to see more of the pictures! ;D

my goodness! White chocolate! It's like my aaaaalll time favorite, haha, though it's a little bit too sweet whatsoever, I love it more than any other chocs! *well, okay, strawberry choc is the next on my list ;D

wow wow wow, look at those sausages the boy held o.O

and the answer to your question, I am such an over-thinker, which is not good. So I've been learning to think "less" (in a good kind of way, of course), to just do what I have to do without talking too much about it, because sometimes, most of the time, when I plan too much, it's just a plan and nothing come out of it, and that is of course not good.
