life in a nutshell
It's been one of those dreary, "case-of-the-Mondays" type days that really made me realize how much I've missed blogging. A lot of my life has been full of "I'll accomplish this ... later" moments, like me planning on posting a 25 things to do before I turn 25 bucket list and since I never ended up finishing it (I'm at #17, folks), I never ended up posting it. And then a lot of other things were left unsaid, and I left the postcard project at the wayside, and well ... I'm a pretty horrible blogger. I'm not making apologies or excuses, just wanted you to know ... I've missed it. I would love to be as candid as possible, but was taught to be as discreet as possible on the 'net due to my career choice. A career that seems to be in "volunteer as much as time of your life as possible without actually being paid or having an interview" mode. I'm trying to keep my chin up, I'm trying to remain positive, I'm trying to be assertive and put my name out there; nothing worth having comes easy, right? (At least, I keep telling myself this.)
The good things? I'm celebrating 4.5 years with The Boy this weekend over schnitzel (a good thing to celebrate with, I think), I still cherish my random coffee dates and hangouts with friends, The Boy's shop is doing well, and I'm slowly but surely going through with starting my web/graphics design business while I volunteer with two different classrooms at two different schools.
And the great thing? I finally get to meet my nephew this year; my sister and her family are coming around for Christmas and I can't wait to hold that little guy in my arms and smother him with Aunt Niki kisses.
When I'm not volunteering, I'm catching up on "The Vampire Diaries" (OMG ELENA), "The Walking Dead" (OMG -NO SPOILERS HERE BECAUSE I HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS WEEK'S EPISODE), "New Girl", or being obsessed with the YouTube series "The Lizzie Bennet" diaries. If you haven't come across this yet, and you're a fan of Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice, or Colin Firth, please watch it. And the amazing Kathy sent me a couple of books that I can't wait to read. Oh, and um, I'm obsessed with Final Fantasy X again. No new video game has compared to it yet, though the Lego version of Lord of the Rings might give it a run for its money.
I hope you've all been doing well and that life is full of love & laughter. I'll try to update soon. In the meantime, here's some pictures of what I've been up to lately:

Ah the 'joys' of growing up ;) What kind of shop does your boyfriend have?
I've become obsessed with schnitzel since having it at a food truck in NYC. Me and Dylan went to Black Forest Inn for lunch one day, but they were closed on Mondays :(
Happy 4.5years! :)
sometimes we all need a blogging break. i was so bad at blogging during the summer and although i had all the time in the world since i'm not working, you'd think i'd be blogging non-stop, right?
anyway, i'm glad you posted and i really hope you like the books!! i can't put it down and so sad that i have to wait until 2014 to read the final book :(
ps - happy anniversary with the boy! :D
gosh darnit, when Life gets in the way of blogging - LOL. I remember when I first started out, I did not get my dream job right away and had to work other jobs to get my foot in the door to my true calling. I look back now and realize that it made me more appreciative of the opportunities it lead me to, versus those lucky people who get their dream jobs handed to them on a silver plate. Stay committed to the course!
And yes, you've been missed in the blogging world! I finally got back into the swing of things a couple weeks ago ;)
I'm just happy I've had my Nikolett-fix <3
Growing up in one of the smallest states in the world, I can't imagine not seeing a nephew the day he's born! :O Glad you'll see him soon.
Awwww, no worries, I haven't been blogging as much as I used too. Now a days I try to blog at least once a week. Oh and wow, 4.5 years with the boyfie?! That is awesome! and cheers to many more wonderful years together for you guys! Oh and I am so addicted to Vampire Diaries. I'm rooting for Damon. How bout you? Oh, by the way, are you still watching Korean drama? Any recommendations? I haven't watched in ages.
I'm just catching up on some blog commenting. Belated anniversary to you and the Boy. You two are such a sweet couple.
There's a lot of us who are stuck in a blogging rut. I am even thinking about stopping altogether but Kat stopped me. Even if you don'g blog weekly, it's always nice to hear from you once in a while.
So your sister and family will be here for the holidays...that's awesome. You finally get to hold that darling H. He's such a looker that little one!
I've missed reading your blog :) x
Lady!! 4.5 years!? Has it seriously been that long!!?? That's AMAZING!! :) Congrats to you both!
So happy for you! Hope you enjoy that time with your nephew!! xo
There's always a light at the end of the tunnel, boots... keep your head up! :) W and I started Walking Dead season 3 yesterday, we are 2 episodes in.. if i didn't have to wake up early the next day, we probably would've finished all 8 episodes in one sitting. Haha! So happy you finally get to meet and hold your nephew! I can't imagine being far away from my niece.. I see her twice a week and in between, i miss her already!
