bags & mousepads & time, oh my!
"Every day brings a chance
for you to draw in a breath,
for you to draw in a breath,
kick off your shoes, and dance."
One of my least favourite phrases -- that I'm guilty of saying at least once per week -- is "I don't have enough time." In reality, I have tons of time, but our society operates in such a way that we need to feel busy all the time. We multitask instead of concentrating on one thing. The Internet is just one example: we're reading blogs, tweeting, going on Youtube, and the latest thing, Google Buzz (seriously? what is this?). We become so distracted by so many tasks that things begin to lose meaning.
When was the last time you just read a book, on your couch, for a good couple of hours? I know, you have work, or school, or things with friends/family. But make that time to just concentrate on one thing, at least once a month, if not once a week (or, if you can manage it, once a day). For me, that moment would be turning on my music and dancing. Or sharing a good conversation with someone without looking at a cell phone. Just draw in a breath, and relaxing.
There's some short therapeutic Thursday for you right there! And now, giveaway winners!
Thanks to making a nice hand-written list and random.org, here are the two winners! And in about one-two weeks I'll have another giveaway, just need to get something ready first!
I might do another one of these bag giveaways because it seemed like a lot of you could use one :)
And the winner of the memo mousepad is:
Krissy! Yay!
Please e-mail me at betterthancoffee@gmail.com with your address information so you can claim your prize! And don't fret, awesome followers -- more giveaways to come. I have a bit of exciting news (nothing huge, just something exciting) that I want to involve in a future giveaway, so stay tuned for that.
Now, it's my official week off from school, so I'm off to relax.
What are you looking forward to this weekend? :)

Yay for the winners! (wait, i should say congrats instead, lol..)
the month i spent in the village allowed me (or more like forced me) to stay away from most of the technology facilities (well.. Kind of..) and that gave me some chances to enjoy more things i wouldn't be able to do in the city, like going to the beach and just play around with friends every weekend. Haha..
Now that it's almost over (around this weekend = tomorrow/the day after) i know i'll miss it, but however, i'm looking forward to spend the busy days in the city again. Haha. <3
I do the focusing thing at least once a week with my dvd's.
But when I really think about it, I usually do it while chatting with my friends on my berry. My berry must die.
Haha yeh, right.:p
Great reminders hun!!! I am definitely guilty as much as the rest of society is with too much time, but feeling like we have to keep ourselves busy. Technology has advanced so much these days that we hide ourselves behind computers instead of communicating, playing board games, and reading books like we use to. It's time to get back to the way it was many years ago. 110%agree!!!
I always seem to be busy with a billion of things to do too. I always want to just lie in bed with one of my books since I LOVE reading but I never seem to get to it.
AAAAAAAHHHHH!! This is so awesome! Thanks Nikolett! This is the first time I won a giveaway haha I'm so excited :) Good thing I did not get a mousepad for the pink mouse I got for my netbook! :)
Omg I am sooo surprised!! Thank you!! Going to email you asap :)
Congratulations Jaime and Krissy - such a fun surprise just before Valentine's Day!!
Awww...I absolutely LOVE that quote, Nikolett. I haven't read a book in uch a long time despite the fact that I'm DYING to. Honestly, the main thing I'm looking forward to this weekend is just sitting in a cafe, and relaxing for a few hours with a cup of coffee and amazing music. And we are DEFINITELY going to have to have coffee together someday - sooner rather than later!!
Happy, Happy Valentine's Day my love!! :)
I hear ya! I am always saying that i don't have enough time but in reality i have tons of time.
This weekend, i'm looking forward to wine, cheese, massages and my birthday.Have a lovely weekend!
You're so right-we need to learn to prioritize.
